One of the best things about Carbondale is the opportunity that we have to minister to college students.
A few great ways for students to plug-in at The View include:
We call our small groups "LifeGroups" because they are the primary places where life happens at The View Church. They are more than just Bible studies. Students are invited to plug-in to any of our LifeGroups but there is a student-focused group that meets on Monday evenings at 7:00pm at 203 S. Dixon in Carbondale (near campus.)
We know that packing up and moving to a new community is difficult. We also know that being away from family and friends can prove especially challenging. In response to that need, we began our Adopt-a-Student program. This program pairs up college students with a local family in the church. This family keeps in touch throughout the semester, offers encouragement, shares meals and do the other things that family and hometown friends would do if they were here locally. Sign-up for this program happens in the first three weeks of the Spring and Fall semesters.
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship
We are proud to support InterVarsity Christian Fellowship's on-campus ministry. InterVarsity is an inter-denominational, student-led Christian community at SIUC. They meet every Thursday night for large group worship and teaching in Browne Auditorium. They also host Bible studies in residence halls throughout the week. Their vision is to be a multi-ethnic community that grows in love for Jesus and transforms SIU by making Him known. Learn more by visiting their website at www.ivsaluki.com
